Caitlin Haskell, Gary C. e Frances Comer Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art presso l'Art Institute of Chicago, è stata annunciata come direttrice delle collezioni e della ricerca Ray Johnson del museo. In questa posizione aggiuntiva, Haskell guiderà e promuoverà borse di studio e interpretazione delle proprietà di Ray Johnson dell'Art Institute e fungerà da collegamento tra il museo e la Ray Johnson Estate. BENJAMIN KAHAN, BORSA DI RICERCA CURATORIALE

Kahan è professore di inglese e studi sulle donne, sul genere e sulla sessualità presso la Louisiana State University. Ha tenuto borse di studio presso la Washington University di St. Louis, la Emory University, l'Università di Pittsburgh, l'Università di Sydney, il National Humanities Center, la Reed Foundation e la John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. È autore di Celibacies: American Modernism and Sexual Life (Duke, 2013) e The Book of Minor Perverts: Sexology, Etiology, and the Emerges of Sexuality (Chicago, 2019). Kahan esplora e scrive sul lavoro di Ray Johnson dal 2011 e ha tenuto conferenze sul lavoro di Johnson alla Brown University, all'Università di Sydney, all'Australian National University, all'Università della Carolina del Nord, a Chapel Hill, all'Università di Buffalo e alla Associazione Studi Modernisti. Ha pubblicato due pezzi su Johnson, entrambi presenti in Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities; il primo è intitolato "Ray Johnson's Anti-Archive: Blackface, Sadomasochism, and the Racial and Sexual Imagination of Pop Art" e il secondo è intitolato "On Ray Johnson's Sexuality, Loves, and Friendships: An Interview between William S. CAITLIN HASKELL ANNOUNCED AS THE DIRECTOR, RAY JOHNSON COLLECTIONS AND RESEARCH AT THE ART INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO Caitlin Haskell, the Gary C. and Frances Comer Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Art Institute of Chicago, has been announced as the museum’s Director of Ray Johnson Collections and Research. In this additional position, Haskell will guide and promote scholarship and interpretation of the Art Institute’s Ray Johnson holdings and act as a liaison between the museum and the Ray Johnson Estate. Working cross-departmentally in collaboration with colleagues in the museum’s Archives and Research Center, as well as Modern and Contemporary Art, Prints and Drawings, and Conservation and Science, she will coordinates the museum’s stewardship and growth of this art and archival collection to serve as a central resource to external scholars on the artist’s practice. A scholar of twentieth-century art, Haskell’s research and writing address the production, critical reception, and legacies of the historical avant-gardes in Europe and the Americas. Her most recent exhibitions include Ray Johnson c/o, curated with Jordan Carter for the Art Institute of Chicago, and René Magritte: The Fifth Season for SFMOMA. 2022 RAY JOHNSON ESTATE CURATORIAL FELLOWS BENJAMIN KAHAN, CURATORIAL RESEARCH FELLOW Kahan has been exploring and writing about the work of Ray Johnson since 2011 and has lectured on Johnson’s work at Brown University, University of Sydney, Australian National University, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, University at Buffalo, and at the Modernist Studies Association. He has published two pieces on Johnson, both featured in Angelaki: Journal of the Theoretical Humanities; the first is entitled, “Ray Johnson’s Anti-Archive: Blackface, Sadomasochism, and the Racial and Sexual Imagination of Pop Art” and the second is entitled, “On Ray Johnson’s Sexuality, Loves, and Friendships: An Interview between William S. Wilson and Benjamin Kahan.” During his time as a fellow, he will be at work on a book exploring the entwinements of race, sexuality, and capital in Johnson’s oeuvre.   VIEW MORE

11 settembre 2001, vent’anni dopo gli attentati alle Torri Gemelle con gli Stati Uniti  dentro una tragedia collettiva  percepita in tempo reale.

Quello che viene ormai comunemente chiamato  l’11 settembre” è il giorno che ha sconvolto e cambiato il mondo. . Nel bel mezzo della globalizzazione e del boom economico, il mondo si è trovato ad affrontare una nuova era sociale e culturale.

 

Gli Stati Uniti sotto attacco dei terroristi

Le prime notizie sono contrastanti, intorno alle 9.03, un secondo aereo si schianta contro la Torre Sud del World Trade Center, alle 9.37, un terzo aereo si schianta contro la facciata ovest del Pentagono.  Non ci saranno  più dubbi è un attentato terroristico con  l’America  sotto attacco.  Con l’attacco al Pentagono,  sarà scritta  una triste pagina di storia con  Osama Bin Laden artefice di questa  immane tragedia collettiva.  Sandro  Bongiani

…. un aeroplano, una pugnalata che penetra in un corpo e frantuma un mondo consolidato.

Il nostro mondo, il nostro ego che sta cadendo a pezzi. Silenzio, annullando lo stridio acuto dei corpi lacerati. E il dolore lancinante si ammanta di dolcezza, assume la morbidezza e il candore di una nuvola.

Tutto vola su di esso. Niente può ferirlo. Si è lasciato attraversare.

…. an airplane, a stab penetrating into a body and shattering a consolidated world.

Our world, our ego who is falling to pieces. Silence, annulling the acute screeching of bodies-ragged. And the shooting pain bedecks itself with sweetness, it assumes the softness and whiteness of a cloud.

All flies across it. Nothing can injure it. It let itself be passed through.
