Non esiste una spiegazione semplice per questo. Per esempio, il cielo non è il « soggetto » del lavoro. I suoi acquarelli non hanno affatto come soggetto il cielo. Piuttosto tale lavoro mi induce a indagare che cosa il cielo stesso voglia significare. Questo lavoro non offre alcuna risposta, presume invece che la si abbia già. O che finiremo per ricordarcela. Oppure che lo sforzo del ricordare abbia un forte significato in sè. The sky is not, for example, his “subject.” It’s not at all that his watercolors are about the sky. It’s rather that part of what the work does for me is to make me ask what the sky itself is about. The work doesn’t offer any answers. It pre­sumes that we already know. Or that we will finally be able to remember.
